Our Story

In October of 2020, three friends met one of their own and as they sat down a mango tree imbibing sour milk while watching the sun set and telling stories, it occurred to them that there is joy in visiting and communing with each other, celebrating positive developments and encouraging one another in development projects.

In November a similar meeting happened and the number had increased to eight and at this second meeting a decision was made to formalize the group and increase members to 12 so that there shall be a visit each month.

In December of 2020, two meetings happened simultaneously, one at Nzoia Sugar Company Guest House and the other at United Kenya Club in Nairobi. The numbers had now swelled to 14 and it was agreed that the friendship circle be transitioned to a farmer’s cooperative society.

In December of 2020, Magharibi Farmers’ Cooperative Society was registered and its monthly meetings continued with each member contributing KShs 10,000 per visit and the hosting member receiving a loan of KShs 100,000.
